Netmeeting and vnbt.386

I'm running Win98 with a DSL connection (no routers/firewalls) and would
like to disable vnbt.386 in the System directory (to close Port 139).
However the RDS in Netmeeting 3.01(4.4.3388) will not work if vnbt.386 is
not functioning (as per Q242120 - NetBIOS and TCP connection state need to
be active). Is there any other way to close Port 139 and still have
Netmeeting function (without using routers/firewalls)?

I can't think of any way to do it on Win98 without a software firewall of
some kind. Is there some problem with running a software firewall?

Thanks for the quick response, Brian. No problem running a software
firewall...just wanted to avoid installing any more programs on a P1 2GB
system! I figured I would eventually have to hook it up to a router to
block port 139, even though I don't think the 'Established' connections
(checked using Netstat) to that port can do any damage to the system (as I
wouldn't be activating 'File & Printer sharing'). However, I'm also hoping
that using Netmeeting's RDS while these port 139 connections are
'Established' doesn't present a security problem.

Not as far as I know.
